Helping With The Harvest

As the days grow shorter and the days grow colder it is time for Daddy to bring in the crops. Well I'm not sure Daddy's "crops" are farm worthy. Below is a picture of our vast beet crop.......

The first thing we did was go get some sand. My new wagon was a great help for this. Clara was supervising me to make sure that I was doing it right.

Daddy then asked me to put some sand in the bottom of the foam cooler. He can ask all he wants but I will only throw it on the floor :)

Once we had some sand in the bottom of the cooler we went to the garden, I mean field, to get the beets. Daddy dug them up and Indy looked after the quality inspection.

After we found only the best beets we put them into the cooler on a layer of sand. Daddy said to make sure that they weren't touching each other. Then Indy covered them with sand. We next put down another layer of beets followed by another layer of sand.

We keep going until the cooler is full.

Finished! Now we can have beets during the winter as fresh as they are today.
